 The four landfills included in this case study are: La Feria, Lo Errázuriz and Lepanto in Santiago, and El Molle (currently in operation) in Valparaíso. These are the first intents of methane recovery and use in the country.
The main use of the biogas was to mix it with petroleum natural gas and inject it in the urban distribution pipelines to be utilised for household applications.One of the main obstacles found during this research was the lack of good practices in urban solid waste management.
